My Best Horse magnesium oxide is ultra-pure and low in iron, with only about 10-20 mg of iron per 10 gram serving. This is suitable for supplementing horses which have iron overload.
A white powder, magnesium oxide is readily absorbed in horses.
The majority of magnesium in the horse’s body is located in the bones and muscle. It plays a role in electrolyte balance within the body.
As a cofactor, it affects enzyme reactions, such as:
- Kinase B
- Hexokinase
- Creatine kinase
- ATPase
- NA+/K+ ATPase
Other areas in which it plays a role:
- Membrane function
- Cell adhesion
- Muscle contraction/relaxation
- Neurotransmitter release
- Structural function of the mitochondria
Magnesium plays a role in over 300 different reactions in the body and is commonly used as a calming supplement. However, additional research is needed to determine the validity of this usage, as well as efficacy.

Suggested serving size: Recommended amount is 10-20 grams per day, or at the advice of your veterinarian. This product is 59.4% magnesium. To achieve 10 grams of magnesium, you would need to feed 17 grams of MagOx Elite. To achieve 20 grams of magnesium, you would need to feed 34 grams of MagOx Elite.
