Hyaluronic acid is commonly used for the nutritional support of equine stiffness and arthritis. It is commonly paired with other supplements, such as chondroitin sulfate, glucosamine, Mov-Ease, MSM, ASU, or turmeric. Although many people top-feed HA for their horses, some people have found that creating a gel is more effective.

This HA is high molecular weight, suitable for supplementation.

Creating a gel the easy way:

Take a 60 cc syringe. Remove the plunger. Put your finger on the tip so that water doesn't leak out. Add a little water, so that there is water in the tip. Carefully add 1/4 teaspoon of HA. Add water until the syringe is about 1/2 full. Put the plunger back in carefully. Shake, shake, shake. Remove the plunger again and fill the syringe up to 60 ccs with water. Put the plunger back in. Shake some more. Put it in the refrigerator (upside down so that the fluid doesn't leak out). Shake occasionally. When it thickens up, use 30 cc's for today. Put the rest in the refrigerator and use tomorrow. This gives your horse about 175 mg per day.

CAUTION: Use caution when handling this supplement with wet hands, as this can result in soft skin.

Suggested serving size: Recommended amount is 100-300 mg per day, but you can go up to 600 mg per day for extra support, or at the advice of your veterinarian.
